Buyer - Intermediate

Key Responsibilities

  • Work to the Oil & Gas WSP business unit procurement procedure and workflow regarding the client/project needs.
  • Assist in developing the project vendor list Select & recommend qualified supply sources from approved vendor list.
  • Prepare bid packages, Issue, and Expedite bids.
  • Open and distribute bids at appointed time and prepare bid tab…submit bid tab for approval.
  • Recommend best suppliers based on availability, price, and delivery for commercial bid evaluation.
  • Negotiate commercial aspect of quotations from bidders.
  • Arrange Pre award / Bid clarification meetings with prospective vendors.
  • Obtain technical bid evaluation and attach to the commercial bid evaluation.
  • Secure freight information from logistics to support bid evaluation.
  • Issue purchase orders after receiving the required approvals.
  • Provide support to less experienced buyers (mentor, train).
  • Maintain reports of material requisitions & purchase orders (procurement plan).
  • Attend Project Review Meetings as required.
  • Work closely with Project Manager/Engineer to satisfy the project purchasing needs.
  • Work with expeditors to correct delivery slippages.
  • Close-out purchase orders after assuring that all contractual & procedural requirements have been satisfied.
  • Mitigate risk.
  • Contracts experience is a requirement.
  • Support Procurement Manager.


  • Minimum 10 years in EPC or EPCM as a buyer.
  • MS Office with an emphasis on Outlook, Word and Excel (Levels 1 & 2).
  • Time management skills / Establish priorities.
  • Contracts experience.
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of the Corporation and Clients.
  • Results oriented and self-motivated.
  • Leadership abilities.
  • Strong organizational skills with great attention to detail.
