Transportation Planning Engineer - Markham

    Taking into account projects’ technical and socio-economic aspects, they ensure that transportation modes are seamlessly integrated, including public transit,
    active modes, automobile and goods movement.  Whenever work begins on a new project, our multidisciplinary teams – covering planning, engineering,
    environmental protection and commissioning – oversee all project aspects to develop innovative and optimized solutions that take into account geometry,
    landscape integration, impact on the built environment, design, construction and other factors. This comprehensive approach enables us to balance
    competing issues and develop multiple-stakeholder solutions from the start.
  • WSP seeks a Senior Transportation Engineer/Planner to join our fast growing Markham Transportation team that includes Transportation Planning,
    Transit Planning, Traffic Management, Highway and Municipal Road Design. This position provides you the opportunity to work on numerous projects for respected municipal clients and development related work.  Projects include: Master Plans, Secondary Plans, Area Studies, Environmental Assessments, Traffic Impact Studies, Parking Studies and Multi-modal and Active Studies. We currently have several high profile projects in the GTA, Ottawa, Montreal and New York State that successful applicants will be participating in.
  • Project Management of traffic impact and operational studies.
  • Preparing and contributing to transportation studies including Multi-modal studies, Master Plans, Environmental Assessments, TDM, Active and Parking studies.
  • Providing transportation engineering guidance to designers on roadway or site improvements.
  • Liaise with clients, project team members and road authorities regarding project requirements.
  • Attending and participating at client and public meetings.
  • Preparing all level of proposals.
  • Preparing safety studies and assisting with preliminary and conceptual design.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior staff.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Transportation Engineering or Planning.
  • P. Eng License from the Professional Engineers of Ontario. 
  • 10 years’ experience in the preparation of transportation planning reports and studies.
  • Proficiency using Synchro/Simtraffic, HCS, CCG and experience with VISSIM and EMME/2.
  • Experience using AutoCad, AutoTurn, Multi-modal software.
  • Experience or exposure to transit planning.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Good communication and leadership abilities.
  • Valid Ontario driver’s license.
