Senior Executive Project Manager

Key Responsibilities

Overall responsibility for the direction, management, control and delivery of major projects, including conventional, P3 and design-build assignments
  • Develop and maintain a team work, respect, empowerment and client-oriented culture
  • Review in  detail the project reports and designs and analyze work in progress versus progress of projects completion. Determine if projects are on track and if WIP provisions or profits should be taken
  • Develop the design budget and the design schedule for major pursuits and projects
  • Monitor overall staff utilization (productivity), project costs, project schedules, scope change management of major projects
  • Maintain good relationship with partners and clients
  • Ensure technical leadership within the team
  • Negotiate contracts and manage bids (RFQ and RFP) of major design, P3 or design-build assignments
  • Ensure projects are managed according to the highest standards in terms of business ethics, integrity of dealing with customers and suppliers aligned with corporate governance guidelines
  • Lead by example and behaving according to the WSP values
  • Develop  and  lead  initiatives  to  increase  employees’  skills  on  projects  to  ensure  that succession plans are identified for key roles in major projects
  • Collaborate with the corporate team and other regions, as required to assemble project teams
  • Take part in market strategy development and identification of key potential projects
  • Identify key staff required and participate in the recruiting process
  • Participate in the process to hire additional senior executive project managers in the transportation sector, including specialists in bridges and roadway projects
  • Facilitate national and regional strategy sessions to ensure alignment to common goals
  • Develop a strategic corporate design-build/P3 vision with Corporate Management
  • Develop and foster relationships that will leverage WSP{’s position in the marketplace.


  • 20 years experience in the delivery of complex transportation projects
  • Experience in leading a minimum of 3 major $1 billion+ transportation projects
  • Management of a multidisciplinary team, based both locally and remotely
  • Knowledge of project controls and management
  • Experience having led the design components of P3 or design-build projects
  • Experience leading bid pursuits for major projects, including design-build and P3 projects
  • Mobility for work within Canada and the USA
