Civil Engineering Technologist - Intermediate

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for topographic site surveys, conceptual, functional and detailed design, CAD drafting, spec preparation, construction monitoring & site staking, quantity measurement and cost estimates and contract administration
  • Projects include water mains, pipelines, sewers, force mains, roads, pavement, drainage and other infrastructure for municipal and land development projects
  • Liaison with clients, contractors, other project team members and other staff within the wider Manitoba Division of WSP
  • Train, mentor and support WSP Manitoba's junior and seasonal staff within the Infrastructure Unit

Qualifications

  • Technical College diploma from a recognised, accredited institution in Civil Engineering Technology, specialising in Municipal Infrastructure
  • Registered as a CET wit CTTAM
  • Previous employment with a MB consulting engineering firm would be an asset
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in Manitoba, preferably with knowledge of technical requirements and standards of MB Infrastructure & Transportation, MB Water Services Board and City of Winnipeg Public Works and Water & Waste departments
  • Ability to undertake multiple simultaneous projects
  • A Class 5F driver's license issued by the Province of Manitoba
  • Willingness to travel throughout Manitoba
  • Membership and participation in industry associations such as CPWA would be an asset
  • Excellent knowledge of appropriate design software (Civil 3D)
  • Good communication, interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Abillty to work both independently and in a team environment
