Senior Transportation Engineer

Key Responsibilities

  • Position may be developed either as a senior technical role or as a manager depending on the qualifications, interests and preferences of the successful candidate
  • Responsible for traffic, road and other transportation studies including planning and feasibility studies; conceptual, functional and detailed design; quantity and cost estimates; all associated with urban and rural transportation projects
  • Liaison with clients, with regulatory authorities, with the project team and within the wider Manitoba Division
  • Research, analysis and impact studies on road and traffic issues
  • Oversee preparation of reports, drawings, etc.
  • Assist with (or alternatively, lead)business development in the transportation sector depending upon the qualifications, interests and preferences of the successful candidate
  • Train, mentor and support WSP Manitoba's Transportation group and Infrastructure Department staff 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in Civil engineering specialising in Transportation; Master's Degree in Transportation or Planning would be an asset
  • Registered as a P. Eng. with APEGM
  • Previous employment with MB Infrastructure & Transportation would be an asset
  • Minimum of 15 years experience in Manitoba with knowledge of technical requirements and standards of MB Infrastructure & Transportation(Highways) and City of Winnipeg Public Works; personal familiarity with the staff and management of those organisations
  • Ability to undertake multiple simultaneous projects
  • A Class 5F Driver's License issued by the Province of Manitoba
  • Willingness to travel throughout Manitoba
  • Active participation in industry associations such as TAC
  • Working knowledge of appropriate transportation planning and design software
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Experience and capability for preparation of client proposals would be an asset
